Hello again,
I have been in a magical mood this month with lots going on. We (Disappearing Inc) has 2 shows scheduled so far. One is for Clay High School's talent competition Eagle Idol. We are doing a short filler in between a couple of their acts and are happy to be back in the magical swing of things. And the second show is for our friends in Elmore Ohio. We will soon be doing that show for over 25,000  bicyclists! As I've mentioned before this show is almost free. We are doing it to help out our friend in Elmore. We would love to see some familiar faces there so if you plan on coming shoot me an e-mail info@dimagicians.com.
Sean and I have our first formal meeting coming up this weekend where we will be setting up the order and transition list. Pretty much its a lot of work and I'm kind of excited about it :)... I hope someone's reading my blogs if not well I guess I didn't waist that much time...  I have a new video to post so keep an eye on the site it's going to be up this week for sure. Well as always

Random thoughts...

We need sponsors! If anyone is reading these blogs and has any interest in becoming the main sponsor for DI 2009ã we would love to hear from you. Drop us a line at info@dimagicians.com or call our offices at 419-503-0903.

Ok now that I got that out of the way…

Today is Wednesday and not a lot is happening in the magic community. I haven’t found a sponsor yet. I’ll keep looking. Remember if I don’t find a sponsor that means no illusion shows next summer.

We do have a show coming up at Elmore Historical Society. I will post the Date and time soon on the NEW EVENTS page. I haven’t been very busy with magic lately. I would love to start rehearsals again but there is no point to do that if I don’t have a sponsor.

So I’m working at sears and that’s pretty much my day. I have school then work. Some days I have school work school. It’s just hectic.

I just want to take a paragraph and thank my girlfriend Brooke for putting up with my hectic lifestyle and still managing to find time to hang out and go on dates. She’s a keeper. I hope so knows how much she means to me.

Well that was all my random thoughts I hope you enjoyed reading them..

October 6, 2008

I'm still working on the site. Its getting to be a difficult task. I have school most everyday and internet access is difficult. I will have most everything fixed by next week. I plan to send out 15 letters containing DVDs to various companies to find a sponsor. I hope it works. Well I'll keep ya posted.

It's Magic!

September 29, 2008

So it’s been awhile since I last wrote in my blog. I’ve been so busy trying to find jobs and sponsors and collage. It’s just been hard. I am in the process of updateing the website and hopefully putting up all of our photos. This is a tedious task where I have to caption every photo and add it to the list.

BIG NEWS…

If all works out we could be doing another GRAND ILLUSION SHOW! Next summer (2009) I would like to put on one more grand illusion spectacular. The show would feature 5 new illusions along with all the illusions from our last show. Many things are examined to determine if we do put on the show but mostly it relies on finding a SPONSOR.

If you our your company would like to be a sponsor of Disappearing Inc. 2009 please Call our offices at (419)503-0903 or send me an e-mail Info@dimagicians.com

Fans

Help support another show Send an e-mail to stagemg@dimagicians.com if you would attend a DI magic show this coming summer.

Well I’m off to work on the site I will keep posted thanks for reading..

Remember It’s Magic

July 14th, 2008

We did it!

3 years of planning, 6 months of Elmore rehearsal, 2 weeks of technical rehearsal at Eisenhower, 2 great shows. This didn't just happen out of the hat. It took planning, building, teaching and repairing. But in the end it all paid off. We put on 2 amazing show for a total of 687 people. And most important we had fun doing it.
I guess the best place for me to start is by thanking those who were there from the beginning.

To my parents,
Thank you for being there for me with my crazy idea of putting on a magic show run by teenagers. Thank you for listening when I needed someone to talk to. For all that you've done, for me and the show. I don't think words can show how thankful I am. Sorry about the 55-gallon drum escape I know it makes you nervous but I know you support me every step of the way.

To The Crew,
Thank you all so much for doing what you do. Thank you for being there with me in the hot sticky theaters rehearsing, putting together props, and taking them down. Without you girls and guys this show wouldn't have been on any stage. You are the mechanics of the show. You work without complaint backstage and move 2 tons of equipment with out even breaking a sweat. For all you guys do and for putting up with me I just want to say THANK YOU

To the fans,
I couldn't have done it without you! You are the reason I walk out on the stage each night. To all that attended this show. THANK YOU! Both nights were filled with great participants and an amazing audience. We couldn't have asked for a better crowd.

To all,
THANK YOU! I hope we've made some memories that we all can look back on for the rest of our lives.

I was talking to a friend the other day he asked "How much work really went into putting together a show like this?"  I said, "I remember when this show was just a thought on a piece of paper. A few scribbles and some question marks." That was 3 years ago. I wanted a show that packed into boxes that could be loaded onto a truck and moved to a different theater each night. So we started working with new props and different people until we came up with a show we thought could travel. This was the show we dreamed of. We put it together not knowing where it would end up. And now were thinking about taking it to other venues in other states. It's just amazing how a dream can become reality if you just keep at it.
For everyone reading this saying "wow it was so easy for him I wish I could do it," you can. But remember it wasn't as easy as it seemed. I've gone through my set backs. Some so difficult I wanted to quit magic all together and call it a night. But I kept with it and ya know what? We put on a magic show for 687 people. It's been a long journey filled with memories that I never want to forget.
I'm sitting in BW's right now typing this thinking to myself WOW : ) we did it; we put on a magic show. It just feels so surreal. I hope we do it again.

Well its been fun typing this I wonder if anyone is going to read it. If you liked the show and would like to post a comment send it to info@dimagicians.com and well post it up for you. Thanks for all of your support and god bless.

Remember,

It's Magic

CLAY MOORE
Illusionist

June 25 2008

Hello everyone my name is Brooke Black I am the Illusion manager for Disappearing Inc. This is my overview of our work backstage..

Enjoy

The past few weeks have been extremely hectic for the entire crew, to say the least. It's summertime, and we all just want to go out and have some fun. But there's so much work to be done for this show. It's all really stressful, but it's gotta get done, and I know it'll be rewarding in the end. We've had a few discrepancies about the importance of showing up to every single rehearsal; if one person isn't there, everything gets thrown off.
It's tough trying to work around everybody's schedules, and it's even more complicated to not have a crew member show up. Every practice counts. Backstage, it's all about teamwork. We've been doing great, for the most part, though. And now that we've reach the last week or two, we really need to kick our butts into gear! We're talking overdrive, here...

Most importantly, things are finally starting to come together. The show feels like it's flowing more naturally. We get there, and everyone knows where to be, what needs done and how to do it. We get right to work, most days. Every now and then something throws us off, but it's better that it happens now rather than later! We joke about those setbacks all of the time, actually. The other day, a wheel fell off of a stand that has to permanently hold up a prop, and we were just like, "But at least it didn't happen during the show!" That's the one line that has become famous to the backstage during practices!
I guess I'm going to have to list out a few of the other setbacks. They're a pain in the moment, but they're fun to look back on...
Clay was burning a dollar bill for the lemon trick, and the handle melted and the burn pan fell apart! It was entertaining, for me and Tara, at least. Who would have thought a burn pan couldn't take the heat?
Then today, we tried to get the headsets to work. Tara didn't have her walky-talky attached to her earpiece, Clay was holding it and doing a "Test, 1,2" for his own benefit, and she was like, "Hey, how come I'm not hearing anything?" Maybe you had to be there. That's Tara
; we love her!
One of the hardest things to accomplish was probably learning to juggle boxes with
Tara . I've had my eye poked out, we've bashed heads, tripped over things. It's been a long haul with that one, but now we've got it down! Go us!
Basically, there isn't anything I can think of that we haven't tackled already. *Knock on wood.* We're to the point where I feel like we know our show better than ever, which is such a relief compared to our last show in Maumee
. It turned out well, but I know this one will be better. If something does go wrong, which it WON'T, we'll know what to do. We've been there before, and we've got a whole extra year of experience under our belts this time.

I don't mean to ramble on. I just can't believe all of the time that's passed and all of the memories that will seem so far away at the close of this show. I'm hoping for the best!!!

Friday June 13, 2008

It's Friday the 13th and since I haven't posted in a while I thought it would be a great idea to post on this crazy day. Its been kinda crazy for the past week trying to work out kinks in the show and work with the technical aspect of everything. On that note our sound-board which is used to mix all of our music sounds and mics on stage was struck by lightning in Elmore. I have been everywhere trying to get it fixed and it seems its not going to happen. I worked in theater yesterday for 5 and a half hours it was a long hot day. And last night I took the birds out of the cage and decided to use them in rehearsal they do great. I am so tired I've spent evey second I have on magic and I am wore out.

Well I'm working on getting videos and pictures up on the site soon.

Keep ya posted

IT'S MAGIC

June 9, 2008
Sorry for not Bloging for a while. I've been very busy with Magic stuff as well as DG's and finishing up exams for school. I thought I'd post now.
So lately my life has been too stressful. And I wish I could of/ should have taken a step back and said. Ok life's getting too much right now let's go jump in the lake or something. Stress is defined as "the consequence of the failure to adapt to change" Lets face it everyone has stress and being 17 years old trying to run a business on my own I can get stressed. The only reason I bring this up is because yesterday I broke down. I couldn't handle the stress anymore I went crazy. I was rude to my parents I yelled and I just broke down and cried. The point I'm trying to make is stress is poisonous and if you let stress get to you, you may just die. So take it easy out in that 95 degree weather and relax when times are rough. Remember there is always someone out there having a worse day then you.
But anyway its been an event filled week. I've done 2 magic shows one for "Food For Thought" a great group (Sean even helped me out with this one) and one small tidbit of a show for Ty. He's the owner and manager of Maumee Indoor Theater. Just a reminder That show is only this many days away.

IT’S MAGIC

June 2, 2008

This weekend was amazing a lot happened. Thursday Brooke Tara and I held a 3 hour rehearsal and got threw the first act blocking. Lots of work. Tuesday is our first 2 a day rehearsal. We will be rehearsing the first act of the show then getting some lunch and then coming back for Act 2 rehearsal. Brooke made me a list of items we needed to get prior to the show so I started work on that Saturday after my performance for FOOD FOR THOUGHT. All I can say is WOW!

Food for thought is an organization of about 12 volunteers who get together every Friday night and make up 300 peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches buy 300 bags of chips, purchase 300 bananas and make up about 20 gallons of lemonade. They do all of this on Friday night and on Saturday they take it downtown to The Toledo Public Library (courtyard) there outside of the library a total of 300 or more homeless/less fortunate people show up and have a sandwich and an apple or a juice box.  And get to talk to people relax hang out and feel good about it. Well I was called upon to perform on Saturday and the phone call I got was pretty short detail wise. Basically she said I need someone to perform some magic at a huge gathering. I said absolutely. I didn't know what kind of gathering so I just dressed like I was going to a banquet show. Black pants nice shirt. When I got there I knew that I dressed wrong for this one and I didn't bring the right magic for this either. So next Saturday I'm heading back in street clothes to try my hand at performing again. But in retrospective what these 12 or so people are doing amazes me and I think that some one should recognize all the hard work people do for other people. Its just amazing.

That was my Saturday and Sunday it was church. I work tech for MainstreetChurch. Monday can on quickly and exams started my morning. Only 2 more days and I am officially a senior in high school and I will be taking collage classes at Owens next year YEAH!

Well that's all I have for today. The show is coming along great and I can't wait to take it to theater.

It's Magic

May/29/08

Today is a great day. We are off to rehearsal tonight for a very long rehearsal day. We are putting all the ties together for the show and I am absolutely amazed that the show is ready for theater. Now we work on the technical aspect of it all. Lots of wires and lights and sound cues. Sean is our Technical Director on the project and we are meeting Thursday for a team leader meeting to put every thing on paper for the operators of lights and sound. I truly am amazed that all of this is real we are in the final stages and we are ready to perform.

So yesterday I did my usual routine for patrons of the Buffalo Wild Wings on Navarre ave.

It would be great to have a packed house next Wednesday so stop on down!

Remember I am there every Wednesday from 6 until 8pm and I would love to more new people there.

So it’s off to Elmore. I’ll keep you up to date with our adventure to the show.

IT’S MAGIC

May 27th

It's been at least a week since I posted anything,

I have been so busy with training doves to fly back to me and magic practice and construction of props that I haven't had any time to type. So let me catch you up with what's up in my life. First let me say Happy Memorial Day. I honored the fallen solders by attending a Memorial Day service with my father. Every year my father and I take a trip to our local cemetery where the American legion has a ceremony with a 21 gun solute to memorialize those brave men who gave there lives for our freedom.

I've been so busy with magic that I forgot to eat yesterday. We are in the last month of rehearsal for the crew and me together before we move the show to a new theater for lighting and sound work.

Now a little rant, I woke up this morning and as always I checked my e-mails. But today I didn't see any e-mails from the people I expected. So I decided to check my spam folder. (this is the first time in a year since I checked it) and while I was scanning through the e-mails I came across about 6 e-mails from a Lady I spoke with about renting the theater at Owens Theater. This is odd because I had thought I told her that I couldn't afford to rent the theater. (It was over $2000 for one weekend) Anyways all 6 e-mails from this lady said please have a down payment soon. I haven't seen these e-mails until this morning and apparently she had been sending them for 2 or so months. Her last e-mail said  "I wish you would have had the professional courtesy to notify me as soon as you decided not to book the space here" I did tell her I couldn't afford it and I feel really bad that I didn't see her e-mails but I don't know what to say. I truthfully thought I told her that I financially couldn't book the theater so here I am in awww because I don't know how all of her e-mails were in the junk folder and I Just want to say I am sorry. L

So that's life. I've been so stressed lately trying to sell tickets and perfect the show for Maumee. I need one fun free day.

I'll post soon.

It's Magic

The weekend Blog May 17 - 19

Sorry for not posting yesterday. It was a busy day for me. I was at school on the phone with 3 newspapers yesterday we are working on getting some more information out about our show. So check out your local paper.

This weekend was a good weekend for magic. Last Friday I posted that I was planning a trip up to the magic shop in Michigan and we made it up there. Saturday Brooke and I drove for the hour up there and picked up some supplies we needed for the shows coming soon. Think of a 6 year old in a ice-cream store. That was me I couldn’t leave without finding something new for my walk around/ table hopping show at Buffalo Wild Wings.  So stop in on Wednesday to see what I bought. On the return trip home Brooke and I were getting a little hungry. So we decided to stop off at a restaurant we haven’t eaten at before it was called “Peat’s Garage” It’s a Bar and Grill located just before the Ohio stage border. It was amazing food. We each ordered what we thought would be a good lunch. I ordered a Hamburger and fries. Not knowing that the food would be as big as my head.

What was really cool about this place was that you actually ate inside old cars turned into little booths. It was just a great time.

That evening we had a show for a very special surprise birthday party. Lucas was turning 10 and it was a lot of fun to perform for him and his friends and family. Congratulations on 2 handfuls Lucas.
Remember to check out all the photos here.

May 16, 2008

Sorry about not posting yesterday it was a long one. We arrived in Elmore around 3:30 in the afternoon prepared to go to work on the appearance and juggling routine. We didn’t get out of there until 6pm a very long day. We decided after all that hard work we deserved a reward of food. So off to BW’s we went for 50 cent boneless wing day. After a 30 min wait for the food it came out cold. This isn’t very usual for BW’s. So we sent it back and when it finally came back it was hot and delicious. I am planning a trip up to Garden City Michigan the closest magic shop from where I live. It’s a nice place up there and great to get refills for props that run out.

Saturday we are booked for a HUBP show for a very special surprise birthday party. And I will have lots of pictures of that coming soon. For the mean time here is a picture of this Wednesdays HUBP at First St. Marks Church after school outreach program.

These kids were amazing and I loved performing for them. They were so good that I thought why not let them help me put the blades in Brooke. This was a first for us and it turned out great. Thanks so much for having us. Check out more pictures of the shows and backstage work here. I’ll keep you posted so check here everyday for an updated blog.

It’s Magic!

May 14, 2008

Today is a rainy one. I still have both shows to perform today and as soon as I get home its load up the illusions and go. Today's show takes me to First St. Mark's church for a 45 minuet show for the youth group. Brooke will be attending this one with me and hopefully we can get some pictures there. Directly after that I'm off to BW's to perform from 6pm till 8pm. It's a long day for me. But God doesn't give you anything you can't handle so I know it will turn out just fine.

Rehearsal yesterday went okay. I wished we had more time to perfect everything but I think it will turn out great anyways.

Check out our photo gallery I've posted many pictures of behind the curtain shots and in front of the curtain. Well I'll post more tomorrow.

Show update

I have 2 shows tomorrow one right after the other. One is a HUBP show for a church group and the other is BW’s. I’m going to do everything I can to get some pictures taken. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

To all the moms out there I would like to say ‘Thank you’ I know being a mom is a tough thing. And I’m especially thankful for my mom. I know the feeling of taking care of the whole family and still having time to do the dishes and make your bed. A story from the past

My mom was deployed to Iraq twice in my life. She belonged to the Air National Guard and was stationed at the 200th REDHORSE at camp Perry. She has been in the military for 20 years and was called to Iraq once while I was 11 years old and Once while I was 14. She has served our country overseas in hostile territory for over a year. Her last deployment sent her to Iraq, Baghdad, Iran and Afghanistan. She was away from home for 7 months and 4 days. I counted every one. That is a tough think to do and I am so proud of my mom for putting her life on the line so I can live my life free. She was gone and it was myself my dad and my sister left at home. And I can now say I know how hard it is to be a mom. I take a lot of things for granted but I realize now that its not easy to be a mom. I learned that being a mom didn’t just mean the normal cook and clean that I saw her doing but a lot more. I was home everyday early so I could get my sister off the bus. I’m happy to say she returned safe both missions and is now retired after 21 years in the military and is now home for good. I missed her so much and Sunday was the day I remind her that she’s important to me and I appreciate everything she does for me, the family and our country.

I started a tradition two years ago, every mother’s day I go down to the local greenhouse and buy 3 flats of flowers (that’s 120 flowers) and I plant them under our pine trees in her front yard. I have a picture ill post soon.

Saturday was great too. I had a scheduled show for Bono Baptist Church’s mother daughter banquet and it was amazing. The ladies were great volunteers and the magic got some great responses. While I was there I was introduced to a lady named Sheri LaFontaine. She is a Christian Singer and Songwriter known world wide. She did a wonderful job at the banquet and blew everyone away with her amazing voice. She was very kind to me and gave me a copy of her Newest CD WONDER Its amazing and her songs fill the whole room with godly words. I would like to thank her so much for her generosity if you’re reading this drop me a line Sheri.

Well the weekends over and a new week begins. Lots to do and little time to do it.

I’ll keep you posted

May 9, 2008

Amazed! That’s what I felt when I got home last night. I had 4 unanswered calls on the business phone so I called them all back to see what's up. Today I can say that I am truly booked for a full month of magic. J Every Saturday and Wednesday this month I have a show. I have a show this Saturday that I just got the specs on today. (short notice) usually I request at least a weeks notice. After Saturday, Wednesday holds both the BW’s show and a church show one right after the other. It doesn’t stop there I have a birthday party show the next Saturday and more… I really enjoy my job and its so rewarding to see a full schedule on my calendar.

Rehearsal was amazing last night we got a lot accomplished. The Chair illusion is coming around great and metamorphosis is in its final little tweak stage. The girls and I were chalanged yesterday when we were rehearsing Appearance we kinda just said “ok lets break for a while and we’ll get back to it another time” sometimes it gets stressful and the only thing you can do is take a step back and let the magic work it’s magic. The birds are supposed to be on week 2 of training (that’s a 2 foot flight from hand to hand) but lastnight they proved to me that they were ready for week 3 material (a 2 foot arch outwards) They are the best investment I’ve ever made on animals. I think one day I’m going to write a book for magicians and spectators alike to train your bird for return flight.

I’ll be taking pictures at all of the shows this weekend and in coming weeks. I’ll be posting them directly to the site so keep and eye out.

May 8, 2008

I’ve been so busy working on this show and getting the theater paid off I’ve had so little time to post my Blog. But ill catch you up. Yesterday I performed for the patrons at Buffalo Wild Wings and it was amazing. I had the best audience I’ve ever had for walk about table magic. I was at BW’s for only 2 hours and it went by quick. A special shout out to Cherie celebrating her 13th birthday party at BW3’s last night. Today I hope to receive the special order I sent out for. It includes an illusion used for the beginning of the show. Today is a rehearsal day for the crew and I. Were working on Chair and Metamorphosis it’s a strenuous day. But we can always celebrate with Boneless wings from BW’s YEAH! Update on the birds, they’re doing great the third bird is called Spaz and he is doing great he can now do a toss outward and come to me within 2 feet. I’m so excited to put them into the show. Alright ill post more as soon as I can

May 6, 2008

Today is a work day for the crew and me. We’re off to Elmore for a long rehearsal day. I believe today’s practice will last until 7 or so tonight. Lot’s of work. Last night we received the boxes for our Voodoo box illusion and its going to be great. I wrote a very long Blog about the weekend but apparently I didn’t send it to the website correctly so ill get it another shot tonight. Tomorrow is BW’s and I hope to see everyone there. Yesterday I got a call for another magic show this time for an Ice cream shop opening up. I’m working on my close up magic for that show. Ill post the times and dates when they are confirmed. Check out our Picture page for more photos of our shows and rehearsals.

The Weekend Blog May 3rd and 4th

The weekend was amazing I got a lot accomplished for the show. I ordered the appearing ????? (ill leave it a secrete until the show) and got some replacement gimmicks for a couple props. Friday I worked with the birds Duffy the bird pooped on me during training. He really likes me. I finished up the curtains for shadow box (another long time in the hot sewing room) I got the rabbit outside for some air and let the birds fly around my room for awhile.  They all seem to be doing very well. Saturday was a magical break for me. I went to Clay High School’s Prom at The Seagate Center. It was amazing I dance with Brooke, We went to Granite City at Fallen Timbers for dinner and it was amazing.

Sunday was another story I did a lot of magical work. My day started out with a Walk around Show, a benefit for a cancer patient who is only 10 years old.

I was only there for 45 minuets but that’s all it took to make some kids smile. A shout out to Mark, Keep up the magic! This show I did for free. I believe if someone has a will to fight cancer then I’ll do anything in my power to help them along the way.

I woke up this morning and I couldn’t believe it, we have 2 months before our show. This is always the busiest part of the rehearsal period because we try to perfect every little detail and sometimes it gets rough. Tuesday is our rehearsal day with the full onstage team it should be a long one. I hope everyone’s ready to work that day because we will. I’ll keep you posted on our day to day activities.

Remember It’s Magic.

May 1st and 2nd

Sorry I didn't post yesterday I was so busy that I didn't have time to type. I was on a mission yesterday to find the umbrellas used for our new illusion VooDoo box. I thought it was going to be an easy buy. I need a total of 21 umbrellas 32" in length from tip to handle. I read that they carry these umbrellas at the Dollar Tree and that they are only about a dollar each. I went to the Dollar Tree and they don't carry any umbrellas only ponchos. Then it was off to Dollar General to see if they carry the little parasols. They do and they cost 5 times more then I thought they would. 5 dollars each! For a total of 21 umbrellas it would cost me $105. Well to say the least I'm still in the market for these umbrellas if anyone knows of a place to get these umbrellas send me an e-mail at info@dimagicians.com.

Wednesday I worked at Buffalo Wild Wings I had one of the busiest Wednesday evenings I've ever worked there. I was busy from the time I pulled in till the time the managers told me to clock out. 6 until about 8:15. I always have a good time working at Bw's because I get to see all the kids smile and love to see the parents reaction when the kids have that second clowns nose appear in their hand. I took a picture but its not the best shot I've ever taken but here it is.

Yesterday was very productive. We worked with the birds I have pictures of them but I haven't uploaded them yet. We have decided on names for 2 out of 3 of the birds The bigger bird the leader we call Alpha and there is a slower bird who would rather fly anywhere except where we want him to go. We call him Doofy (Tara named him) Brooke is still working on a name for the third bird. The girls and I took off for Elmore and worked on the new chair illusion and tried on the costumes for the Shadow box. Don't they look so cool?

On the non-magic side- today I'm picking up my tux for the prom tomorrow and getting my hair cut so I look ok for the pictures. This is the first time I've ever gone to prom so I truthfully am excited.
Well ill get more pics up as soon as I can.
I'll keep you posted.
